Creating 'meaningful day' services as a pathway for competitive, integrated employment. 

Objective: to increase statewide awareness and knowledge acquisition among providers in Michigan which serve both individuals with mental illness and intellectual and developmental disabilities, and people with dual diagnosis, related to organizational models, strategies and tools correlated with creating 'meaningful day services', including the use of Community Living Supports (CLS) services as a mechanism to do discovery, volunteering; create a profile; build confidence, stamina and skills for working which create a pathway for competitive, integrated employment.

To encourage people to work, TransCen, Inc. established WorkLink, a program that braids services funded through the Medicaid waiver system with VR-funded Supported Employment to address these issues.  Braiding services allows for providing responsive, wrap-around supports.

In this one-day training, Sara Murphy of TransCen, Inc. will discuss how to use Michigan’s Community Living Supports (CLS) to establish a pathway to employment outcomes and create meaningful lives for people with I/DD. Participants will leave with field-tested tools and strategies for transforming their program services.
