Incompass Michigan is excited to offer our 2020 Leadership Conference Virtually - July 27-31 

Each day will kick off with a live session at 10:00 AM and Monday-Thursday will offer a bonus live session at 4:00 PM!

We'll also have pre-recorded content that you can view at any time and many of the live sessions will be available to attendees as recorded sessions later.

Our annual Leadership Conference is valued at $400, however in response to the COVID-19 pandemic we are offering a special "pay as you are able" registration with a suggested contribution of $150. We request a minimum contribution of $50 for non-member registrations.

This means, you decide what to pay for registration!

  • All staff of Incompass Michigan Members, pay what you are able from $0-$400.
  • All non-members, pay what you are able from $50-$400

    • Family Engagement: Effective engagement of families and caregivers in the employment process can help Community Rehabilitation Programs improve their outcomes. This webinar makes the case to administrators and managers for putting a focus on improving partnerships with families. Topics include shifting towards empathy and understanding, strategies for engaging internal and external stakeholders, and tips on creating family-friendly organizations.
  • Alex Neuhoff – Bridgespan: Building Future Leaders: A Better Approach to Succession Planning
    • Did you know that there are actually three different types of succession planning? And did you know that the most valuable type – long term leadership development – is the one least utilized? This session will share an approach to long term leadership development approach called “Building Future Leaders”. This approach has been implemented in over 100 nonprofits, and not only helps solve the succession challenge, but increases retention, improves the skills of your leaders, creates a pathway to leadership, and makes leadership development more equitable. This 30 minute video will explain the approach, share tools, and help you decide if its right for your organization.

  • Robert Sheehan, CEO - CMHAM: Behavioral Health Landscape in Michigan
    • An update on the Behavioral Healthcare Landscape during the current pandemic and post COVID as well. 
  • Lindsay Raymond – Danbrook, Adams, Raymond 
    • Employment Law Update Post COVID. Lindsay discusses the implications on the COVID pandemic for employment law in Michigan. 
  • Brian Calley, President - Small Business Association of Michigan

    • Brian Calley and Incompass Michigan CEO Todd Culver discuss the future of work in the area of workforce development and inclusion of individuals facing barriers to employment.  Brian also has an informative presentation on the COVID-19 pandemic, its impact on the small business community in our state, and an overview of SBAM initiatives to support employers and employees  in getting back to work safely.

  • Bob Stein, General Counsel - Michigan Assisted Living Association (MALA)
    • In interview format, Bob Stein and Incompass Michigan CEO Todd Culver discuss challenges for for residential service providers prior to COVID-19, how the pandemic has impacted these issues, and trends and outlook for residential providers on both a short term and long term basis.  They'll also discuss the partnership between our two associations - aligned in mission and advocacy efforts, with an emphasis on the direct care wage issue and retainer payments.

  • Barbara Kleist – University of Minnesota: DSP Recruitment and Retention
    • Good direct support work is ultimately about evolving positive relationships between the support worker and the person who receives their support. Organizations that support people with disabilities to live full and meaningful lives in their communities are constantly seeking to recruit and retain the best DSP's. Recruiting and retaining the right direct support professional for job is the key to quality in community living. The University of Minnesota's Research and Training Center on Community Living has developed a tools and strategies that organizations can use in their recruitment and retention efforts. This pre-recorded session with give participants the opportunity to learn about the Direct Support Workforce data nationally and in Michigan, learn about best practices in workforce solutions for improving recruitment and retention and begin thinking about opportunities at state, regional and organizational levels to influence workforce stability in Michigan.
